Former Coppice Hospital
Standing on a prominent spur above St Ann's, Coppice Hospital was built in the 1870s as the County Lunatic Asylym. It has now been converted into apartments and renamed Hine Hall to commemorate its architect.

The site of St Ann's Well Station
The picture is taken from roughly where the north end of the southbound platform once was. The grassed area behind the railings was the site of sidings and a goods shed, used until closure of the Nottingham Suburban Railway in 1951. The main entrance to the station for passengers was on Kildare Road (offstage right). Beyond the modern brick house the line crossed The Wells Road on a huge lattice girder bridge supported by brick arches. For more history, see

St Ann's Well: remains of Nottingham Suburban Railway Bridge No 9
The brick wall is all that remains of the huge lattice girder railway bridge supported on brick arches which carried the Nottingham Suburban Railway (1889-1951) high over The Wells Road. St Ann's Well Station was on the embankment to the right. On the extreme left of the picture is the junction with Kildare Road, where until 1965 the No 40 trolleybuses from Wilford Bridge terminated and had a turning circle. The picture was taken through driving rain on a filthy July morning.

Kildare Road terminus
Once used by trolleybuses, the turning circle off The Wells Road at the foot of Kildare Road is now used by buses that terminate in St Ann's. The bus is about to operate the 41, which is the direct route to Nottingham city centre via St Ann's Well Road.

Double decker in Kildare Road turning circle, St Ann's
Nottingham City Transport operated a Boxing Day bus service on some of its ordinary city routes in 2013, the first such a service had been run for many years. NCT normally uses midibuses on route 41, which terminates here; however, presumably in case loadings were very high on the limited service operated, on Boxing Day a double decker, one of NCT's large fleet of Scania/East Lancs OmniDekkas, was used.
