Track of ex-GN Grantham - Honington - Lincoln line at Caythorpe, 1983
View northward, towards Lincoln, the station having been behind the photographer. The station had been closed from 10/9/62 (goods 15/6/64) and the relatively important through line was abandoned between Honington and Lincoln from 1/11/65.

Bridge over a former railway
Caythorpe station was on the Grantham to Lincoln line which opened in 1867. The line was owned by the Great Northern Railway. The station closed in 1962 and the line followed in 1965. This view is where Caythorpe Heath Lane crosses the former line. The station was on the right hand side of the bridge but all trace has now been obliterated by a recycling plant built on the site. To the left of the bridge it is equally hard to believe there was ever a railway here apart from the bridge giving it away - see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5500600
