Reed beds at Marston Sewage Works
Effluent water from this large sewage treatment work north of Grantham is pumped from several discharge points (manhole cover on right) into a ditch from where it passes slowly through the reed bed before discharging to the River Witham. The reed beds are an important site for birds http://wildpro.twycrosszoo.org/S/00Ref/bookscontents/bookref93wetlandsindustrywildlife/chapter14.htm#Figure 14.4
