Harlaxton Village Cross
The cross, at the junction of High Street and church Street, is a Grade II listed structure (English Heritage ID:383003 http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-383003-village-cross-harlaxton-lincolnshire British Listed Buildings).
According to the listing text, it comprises of an octagonal obelisk, approx 2m high, set on 14th century octagonal moulded pedestal and base of 2 steps. Possibly resited.
The cross is probably one of the architectural ornaments introduced to the village ca 1820-1840 by Gregory Gregory, Lord of the Manor of Harlaxton. (Rowlands G: Harlaxton Manor: Harlaxton: 1984-: 20-29; The Buildings of England: Pevsner N, Harris J & Antram N: Lincolnshire: London: 1964-1989: 362-363).

Harlaxton Cross
As is so often the case, the cross contains material from various periods. Here, much of the plinth, the octagonal socket stone and the upper part of the shaft are genuinely medieval. Listed Grade II and also a Scheduled Monument.
