Nottingham - NG3 (Sneinton)
A glance along the Manvers Street end of Carlton Road (B686) reveals these two Church or Sunday School related buildings. The nearest one, now occupied by a non-conformist church group, has an obvious cross shape incorporated into some ornate herringbone brickwork - once popular in the "Tudorbethan" or "Jacobethan" styles of the 1920's and 1930's - plus a low bell tower. The second property, formerly St Luke's Parochial School, was designed by the Nottingham architect Frederick Bakewell and built in the 1860s. It currently houses the offices of an internal design consultancy company. St Luke's Church itself was demolished in 1925.

The Earl Howe, Carlton Road
Traditional Victorian period public house, which has been closed since around 2013 and is at the time of writing subject to a planning application for conversion to student flats. A similar fate has overtaken the nearby White Lion http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4230251 and Duke of Cambridge http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5401874 public houses. It appears to have retained the same name throughout its existence.

Nottingham - NG3 (Sneinton)
"The Vine" - on the corner of Liverpool Street and Handel Street - is one of the last remaining pubs in Nottingham with a curved corner-entrance door opening directly onto the street. The Home Brewery Company of Arnold purchased it in 1896 when it also boasted stables and a smithy. Although the facilities and internal decor remains very basic, the pub is still functioning at a time when many other pubs in Sneinton have closed.

Nottingham - NG3 (Sneinton)
A view along Liverpool Street taken from St Luke's Street. "The Vine", on the corner of Liverpool Street and Handel Street, is one of the last remaining pubs in Nottingham with a curved corner-entrance door opening directly onto the street. It was built in 1876 and then purchased by The Home Brewery Company of Arnold in 1896. It boasted functioning stables and an active smithy until 1924. Although the facilities and internal decor remains very basic, the pub is still functioning at a time when many other pubs in Sneinton have closed. The elongated building on the left is the city Car Pound.
