Not as one would suspect, the local take away. But he name of an area of land that the drovers would leave their cattle to graze before taking them on to market.

Despite looking old these two houses where built in 2007 on the site of the former bus depot. Some of the original bricks have been reused giving the buildings a slightly aged appearance.

Green Street, Primitive Methodist Church
A wonderful example of a Victorian red bricked nonconformist church. Just visible on the door pillar is a white notice. Not as one would normally expect, a planning application. But a request asking dog owners not to let the pets mess in the doorway.

2&4 Green Street
An unassuming pair of dwellings situated across the road from the Methodist church. These being designed by Henry Roberts in 1848 as model Cottages on behalf of The Philanthropic Organisation. Set up to improve the conditions of the labouring classes. What however is the unfinished inscription stone above the doorway? See also The Lost Symbol Image for a close up.
