Building on the corner of St Peter's Hill and Castlegate, Grantham
Classic example of the period of several houses built to appear as a single large house, and so enhance the status of the occupants. In this case three houses are involved, 8 St Peter's Hill (with balcony), 1 Castlegate (corner house, with three bays on each street), and 1A Castlegate (the remaining two bays, incorporating what would have been a carriage arch, now filled with a shop front). (1 and 1A may have been a single unit originally). Early 19th century, Listed Grade II.
