Hairdresser's shop on Westgate, Southwell
I hope that this establishment's name was inspired by MJN Air, the fictitious charter airline in BBC Radio 4 sitcom "Cabin Pressure".

With the former cinema (now a residential conversion known as The Old Cinema") behind the photographer's right shoulder, the twin towers of the Minster are seen at the town centre end of Westgate. This end-of-terrace house with the unusual 'off shot' room at the front of it (perhaps originally a laundry out-house ?) is opposite the junction with Nottingham Road (the A612).

Court off Westgate
As the houses are numbered from one, this presumably has a name, but it is not in evidence. A timeless view - only the wheelie bins show that it is a modern shot.

This tucked away postbox on Westgate is obliquely opposite the junction with Nottingham Road (the A612), at the town centre end of Westgate. Behind the brick wall in the right-hand corner of this picture is a terraced house (No. 40) bearing a plaque declaring that it was formerly The Shoulder of Mutton Inn between 1780-19.. (I didn't jot down the year of closure). The property is now Grade II-listed. In the distance, on the left, is another Grade II-listed building - the former "Ideal Cinema & Dance Hall" - now a residential conversion known as "The Old Cinema".

44 Westgate, Southwell
Late 17th century house, later converted to a shop, with mid 20th century shop front. The house may be partly timber framed, but the facade timbering, despite its irregularity, is entirely imitation. Listed Grade II. Note the medieval stone gargoyle http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6587238 built into the left hand side of the frontage.
