Warwick Brewery, NEWARK, NG24 1TU

A view towards the B6166 road from a service road that allows access to a block of apartments that have been 'bolted on' to the rear of this part of the old brewery. The company's offices were at the front of the building facing Northgate, whereas these extensions to the production element of the enterprise were added later, i.e. 1871 and 1882. The premises now house a mixture of apartments, offices and shops. Historically, the Warwick family already owned a one and half acre site behind this plot upon which they would later build these buildings and even before the construction of the brewery they already had a small malting on it. The latter is now disused and is now fenced off, behind the photographers right shoulder, perhaps awaiting redevelopment? This brewery was designed in Domestic Revival style by William Bliss Sanders of South Kensington and built by Baines of Newark.

Now converted into retail and residential premises. The facade appears to have been built in at least three phases. The central tall gable carries the date 1877, the arcade beyond 1871 and the nearest gable 1882. Listed Grade II.

Re-developed Northgate Brewery, now fashionable apartments within short walking distance of Newark Northgate Station and 75 minutes of King's Cross. Built 1871, 1882 and 1890 by William Bliss Sanders in the 'Domestic Revival' style for Warwick and Richardson's brewers.

Part of the former brewery site. The company's former main office building faces Northgate (the B6166 road). This incongruous apartment block was built at the rear of these brewery buildings c.2009. This picture was taken from a higher vantage point at the side of a huge modern TK Maxx store that is located in hangar-type building that, once again, seems extremely out of kilter with this Victorian structure. To the right and after a few yards, the asphalted path peters out and continues as a narrower footpath until it joins a riverside walk along the River Trent. On the left however, pedestrians can quickly gain access to these former brewery buildings that had been converted into a mixture of apartments, shops and offices by 2010.

This was formerly part of the North Gate Depot of John Smiths Brewery.

The western side of the range, upper storeys are now in residential use. Built between 1871 and 1887, the office range at the far end in 1890. Listed Grade II.

Work began in 1882 to the design of William Bliss Sanders.
