Newark Town Bowls Club
I first saw this delightful building from the rear http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3116581 and was intrigued to know what it might be. After doing some research I realised that I would have to go back to photograph the front. The pavilion/club house dates from 1809 (the date stone is a modern restoration) and is a fine example of the then fashionable idea of gothic. Listed Grade II.

Bowling green pavilion
This is the rear of the building http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3123340, but even this is stylish. It dates from 1809 in the then currently fashionable style of gothic. Listed Grade II.

Former Netto supermarket
Presumably this fell victim to the new ASDA which opened close by. Anyway, the local council have stepped in to take advantage of the parking facilities which are now pay and display.

Former Castle Brewery
Showing the main brewing tower and what was probably raw materials storage to the right. A good example of a classic English tower brewery. Now in commercial/residential use. Listed Grade II.

Former brewhouse, Albert Street, Newark-on-Trent
By William Bradford, 1889, for Caparn & Hankey, but rather more utilitarian than Bradford's office block behind which it sits (Image]). Grade II listed. All now converted to flats.

Castle Brewery, Newark
In the background the main brewhouse, a typical tower brewery building, now converted to apartments. Built 1885-90 by William Bradford for the brewers Caparn & Hankey, Listed Grade II. The shed partly visible to the left was the cask store, of similar date and also Listed Grade II.
