Jimmy and Jack and Meadow Lane
A statue of Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler, Notts County's most successful manager and trainer, stands outside the Meadow Lane ground to greet supporters. Unlike many football statues, this one actually looks like the two men. Meadow Lane, leading to the canal bridge, is in the background. The football ground is behind the camera.

Most of a crowd of 5,921 went home happy after Notts County came from behind to beat Aldershot Town 3-2 in a National League encounter at Meadow Lane (the ground is behind the camera).

Meadow Lane Canal Bridge
Bridge No 1 on the Nottingham Canal, dating from the 1790s. For a view of the other side of the bridge half a minute later, and a cheery wave from the fisherman, click http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1371950 . The pink petunias in the top corner of the picture trail from one of the flower tubs on the London Road railings.

The Big Track
The stone bridge carrying Meadow Lane dates from the building of the Nottingham Canal in the early 1790s. I'd not noticed before that - according to the blue signpost - the towpath has been rebranded as "The Big Track", which seems an outlandish sort of name for a canal bank.

Crossing the Nottingham Canal
Bridge 1d carries Meadow Lane over the Nottingham Canal, whose towpath is a popular off-road route into Nottingham city centre for walkers and cyclists. The spire of St Saviour's Church on Arkwright Walk (busy Arkwright Street before the redevelopment of The Meadows in the 1970s) shows above the trees.

A very contented fisherman sits on the north side of the bridge on a very hot evening. The traffic lights are on London Road. For a view of the other side of the bridge a few moments earlier, click http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1758033.
