The Embankment, London Road, Nottingham
Formerly a Boots shop and tea rooms by the company's resident architect, A.N. Bromley, 1905. In a reversal of the usual process, it is now a pub.

Victoria Embankment joins London Road
The Topknot Hair and Beauty establishment, with its crow-stepped gables and vaguely Baltic look, has been a Trent Bridge landmark for a century, in former times carrying a large advertisement for Pork Farms pork pies. The half-timbered house to the left is the first of the rather grand Edwardian houses on Fraser Road which back on to Victoria Embankment. In the days of trolleybuses, this was the stop for the 45 Trent Bridge to Wollaton service, which, like the 41 Cinderhill and 43 Bulwell Market terminated and turned just to the left of here, on the Embankment, where the majority of the city-bound stops were.

The Casa (Formerly The Aviary)
And before that The Town Arms. Sited at the north end of the Trent Bridge the building is now boarded up and looking neglected.

Turney Street on a damp afternoon
One of many drab days in the disappointing summer of 2012. The former Turney Brothers' Trent Bridge Leather Works, now flats, is the four-storey building in the distance.

Approaching Trent Bridge
The front of Turney Court - once Turney Brothers' Trent Bridge Leather Works and now flats - and the bus stop are in shadow but The Riverbank restaurant (originally The Town Arms) straight ahead and the copper-roofed County Hall, on the West Bridgford side of Trent Bridge, are lit by brilliant sunshine on an August morning, the prelude to a lovely day for cricket (on which Notts beat Durham on the third day of the County Championship match).

Quayside Close and Turneys Court
Houses now occupy Turney Brothers' land. The large building, now Turneys Court, is the former Turney Brothers' Trent Bridge Leather Works.

Turney Court and Trent Bridge
The building to the left, now flats, was originally Turney Brothers' Trent Bridge Leather Works. At about 8.30 on an overcast Spring Bank Holiday Monday there was next to no traffic over Trent Bridge - quite a contrast with working days. The buildings in the centre of the picture, and Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, are on the other side of the river.
