Tuxford Post Office postbox ref NG22 121
The exposed timber framing at the top confirms that this is a Ludlow type postbox. Ludlow postboxes were manufactured by the firm of James Ludlow & Sons as a low cost alternative to cast-iron boxes for installation at smaller post offices where the postmaster/mistress had to cover the cost of mail collection. Originally it would have had an enamelled panel similar to this one http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1466526.

Eldon Street, Tuxford
In the picture, two obvious former pubs speak of the town's former importance as a coaching stop on the Great North Road (which ran along this street, prior to the building of the town's bypass).
