St.Mary's church, Egmanton
A small unassuming church with a late 12th century north arcade, 14th and 15th century windows. In 1896 the 7th Duke of Newcastle revived an ancient cult and re-established the shrine of Our Lady of Egmanton. He commissioned Sir Ninian Comper to furnish and decorate the inside, with breathtaking results - a magnificent organ, rood screen, pulpit, altars in the chapels, east window and the shrine of the Virgin Mary itself.

Track down to Weston Road in Egmanton
The green verges and hedges looked bright on a dull wet day, with hardly a hint that autumn is just around the corner.

Footpath in Egmanton
This is a very short path (its complete length is visible in this picture) that runs from near the church and Village Hall (the former school) to Weston Road. It takes only a matter of seconds longer to go round via the road and at this time of the year is rather less muddy!
