Edge of the forest

Body of evidence!
Evidence of a murder in the forest! Actually, not even a body. A pile of feathers is all that remains of an unfortunate wood pigeon, almost certainly killed by a fox, in Sherwood Pines forest park.

Broken birch
A split silver birch has fallen across a track near the north-eastern boundary of Sherwood Pines forest park. This area of the forest, known as Culloden Plantation, is close to the Center Parcs holiday village.

Leylandii amongst the pines
There are a couple of stands of leylandii in this part of Sherwood Pines forest park, close to the north-eastern edge. They seemed a bit incongruous amongst the pines, beeches & sweet chestnut trees. I wondered whether they might be some sort of experimental planting.
