King John's Palace, Kings Clipstone
This is all that remains of a substantial royal palace and hunting lodge that was a favoured residence of kings for over two hundred years - from Henry II to Richard II. It is likely that in later centuries the site was effectively used as a quarry by local builders and farmers.
