Also selling umbrellas, which is a shame as it's now stopped raining and the sun is coming out. The stall is in a prime street-selling position just outside the main entrance to the Broadmarsh shopping centre at the bottom of Lister Gate.

Art-Deco Detail
Lister Gate, Nottingham. The building is currently occupied by Marks & Spencer. It was built in 1936-37 and designed by the in-house architects of FW Woolworth. They obviously pulled-out all the stops to produce a flagship town centre shop. Changed hands from Woolworths I think about 15 years ago. Grade II listed in 1995, which might date the change over if Woolworth were selling at the time and there were fears that it might get redeveloped. See also Image

Intu Broadmarsh entrance, Lister Gate
At the time of this photo, the Broadmarsh shopping centre was being renovated by owners intu. In June 2020, intu collapsed and went into administration, with the site being returned to the freeholder, Nottingham City Council. Since then, the building has been partially demolished, with the project to renovate the area in a state of limbo due to multiple funding problems.
