Footpath on the line of a former tramway
This stretch of footpath is on the line of an old tramway, which ran from Loscoe Colliery to wharves on the Erewash and Nottingham Canals, near the Anchor Inn. It is marked on the Ordnance Survey First Series map of 1836. By 1880, the western part of the tramway had been replaced by the Midland Railway Heanor Branch. This railway retained a junction with the remaining eastern part of the tramway, which still served the canals. By 1900, the remaining tramway had disappeared and this stretch is marked as a footpath.

Langley Mill Telephone Exchange (2)
This photo, taken in Milnhay Road, shows the extension to the TE on the right with the original building being on the left. Somehow the two sections don't seem to blend very well with each other, although as the TE is in an urban area, it might not matter all that much. This area is part of D H Lawrence country, although any visitor to it might not realise that this TE actually exists, let alone where it is situated. BT Openreach vehicles can be seen under the canopy of the extension, while BT warning notices and drainpipes can be seen on the walls of both sections. In front of the TE can be seen a BT green cabinet.
