Posting box, Hucknall Post Office - Ref: NG15 1
This style of built-in posting box has become more uncommon since the Royal Mail was separated from the Post Office. Here the internal collection facilities have been replaced by an external door, but the original brass slot has survived.

High Street, Hucknall, Notts.
The north-western end of the town's main shopping street. Hucknall’s current town centre improvement scheme (TCIS) received final funding approval from the Department for Transport in February 2015 (procured using the Medium Scheme Framework 2, through the Midlands Highway Alliance). Carillon and Tarmac JV were awarded the contract and work was started in January 2016. The work includes the pedestrianisation of the section of the High Street between Baker Street (behind the photographer) and Watnall Road (ahead). The entire project, which includes a "town centre relief road", is due to be completed in May 2017. The overall scheme aims to reduce traffic congestion, create an attractive shopping centre, attract new retailers and to assist in the regeneration of the town.

Flight of Fancy
Not my title - this is the correct name of this modern sculpture in Hucknall Market Place. Created by artist Liz Lemon, it is designed to reflect Hucknall's industrial heritage, with other references to lacemaking and Ada Lovelace, the daughter of Lord Byron, credited with designing the precursor to the modern computer. The crown is formed from the mixer from a Rolls Royce Tay jet engine emphasising the local contribution that Rolls Royce's factory makes to the local economy.

Also partially visible to the left of the church is the cone-shaped roof of the town library built by renowned Victorian architect Watson Fothergill.
