A view of South Sherwood Street sporting the prominent "Cornerhouse" leisure centre. This complex was built on the former site of "The Nottingham Post" daily newspaper and offers bars, restaurants, a multi-screen cinema and a gambling casino. "The Langtry" pub on the corner however, offers a more traditional welcome. Previously known as "The Peach Tree", it suffered a name change in the 1980s - in favour of the celebrated actress Lily Langtry - to mark the area's close association with the Theatre Royal and the Royal Concert Hall on the opposite side of the road.

South Sherwood Street in "The Royal Quarter" sports "The Corner House" leisure centre on the right and "The Royal Concert Hall" opposite it. "The Theatre Royal" can also be seen in the lower left corner of the picture; the latter two buildings forming "The Royal Centre".
