A view of South Sherwood Street sporting the prominent "Cornerhouse" leisure centre. This complex was built on the former site of "The Nottingham Post" daily newspaper and offers bars, restaurants, a multi-screen cinema and a gambling casino. "The Langtry" pub on the corner however, offers a more traditional welcome. Previously known as "The Peach Tree", it suffered a name change in the 1980s - in favour of the celebrated actress Lily Langtry - to mark the area's close association with the Theatre Royal and the Royal Concert Hall on the opposite side of the road.
