Scarrington smithy and horseshoes
Built around 1840, the smithy still retains two brick hearths. Listed Grade II. The pile of horseshoes was created by the local blacksmith, George Flinders, between 1945 and 1965. It is 17 feet high and estimated to weigh around 10 tons. It is now owned by Nottinghamshire County Council.

The Scarrington Horseshoes
This pile of horseshoes outside the old Smithy was built by the village blacksmith using discarded horseshoes. An American tried to buy it and ship over to the USA, but a Preservation Order was put on it, preventing him from doing so.

Scarrington Horseshoes
Tower of around 50,000 horseshoes outside the Old Forge at Scarrington, built between June 1945 and April 1965 by Mr.George Flinders, village blacksmith for over 51 years. The shoes are interlocked without any supporting column to make the tower 17 feet high, with a circumference at the base of 19'6". It has an estimated weight of 10 tons and is thought to be the largest stack of used horseshoes in the world.
