Site of Long Eaton Speedway Stadium
Now disused, abandoned, and fenced off. The buildings of Grange primary school can be seen in the distance. See [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/derbyshire/4529941.stm] for a brief history of the stadium and details of plans to revive it (yet to come to fruition, obviously).

The site of Long Eaton Stadium
In use for Speedway races on-and-of between 1950 and 1997, when it closed for housing development. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Eaton_Speedway
The site (without any trace of stadium buildings) remained untouched for at least 5 years until recently when bulldozers and JCBs moved in and cleared the ground. A couple of weeks ago services were laid-on through a new channel under Nottingham Road. The road was subject to temporary traffic lights and single lane traffic during working hours for a few days. The lights were removed with two lane traffic before the evening rush-hour and reinstated after the morning one.

Remains of the Stadium
The future of the site remains uncertain as the latest planning application for residential development was withdrawn at the beginning of June 2010.
