In use for Speedway races on-and-of between 1950 and 1997, when it closed for housing development. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Eaton_Speedway The site (without any trace of stadium buildings) remained untouched for at least 5 years until recently when bulldozers and JCBs moved in and cleared the ground. A couple of weeks ago services were laid-on through a new channel under Nottingham Road. The road was subject to temporary traffic lights and single lane traffic during working hours for a few days. The lights were removed with two lane traffic before the evening rush-hour and reinstated after the morning one.
