The earliest reference to a chapel at Bolton is 1135. The present building dates mainly from a restoration in the mid 19th century.

Bolton Chapel (Hedgeley)
Bolton Chapel is of very old foundation. The present chapel includes a chancel arch and chancel walling of the Medieval period. The remainder of the chapel is in the imitative Romanesque style - but mainly is Post Medieval of the 19th century. It is a simple arrangement of chancel, nave, northern transept, vestry and south porch. There is no spire or tower - but a small belfry is arranged as a bellcote. This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law.
