The stripey bikes of Haydon Bridge (1)
Haydon Bridge is one of the villages on the route of the Aviva Tour of Britain 2015. Stage 5 on September 10th runs from the start at Prudhoe in the Tyne Valley to the finish at the top of Hartside Pass. Like many communities along the way, Haydon Bridge is regarding the event as cause for a major celebration, and like many other villages has set out to adorn the route with painted bicycles; there at least fifteen dotted around the village. Although the traditional colour is yellow, those in Northumberland have in the main been painted in yellow and red stripes, those being the colours of the Northumberland county flag. This particular example is located next to the General Havelock pub.
