Obelisk at Kirkley Hall
A short distance south-west of Kirkley Hall is a tall obelisk. It was built in 1788 by Newton Ogle, possibly commemorating the centenary of the 1688 revolution. This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law.

The Obelisk at Kirkley Hall
Rev Newton Ogle (1726-1804), Dean of Winchester Cathedral, erected this Obelisk in 1788 on "a grassy knoll" to commemorate the centenary of the landing in this country of William of Orange and his wife Mary, and the "Glorious Revolution" of 1688-9. The Ogles were the landed family who occupied Kirkley Hall nearby.
