A short distance south-west of Kirkley Hall is a tall obelisk. It was built in 1788 by Newton Ogle, possibly commemorating the centenary of the 1688 revolution. This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law. http://www.keystothepast.info/article/10339/Site-Details?PRN=N15118
