The Church of St Francis, Byrness
The church was built in the late 18th C. It has a stained glass window commemorating the workers who died during the building of the nearby Catcleugh Reservoir. Catcleugh Reservoir 'Navvies Window', Byrness Church
Installed in the tiny Church of St Francis of Assisi, Byrness, in 1903 by the construction workforce of Catcleugh Reservoir, in memory of the 64 deaths of workers and their familes. It is probably unique in having no religious content and detailing not only the working lives of the reservoir construction workers but also a narrow-gauge steam railway.
