Upper level walkway above Premier Inn, Oxford Street
On a damp, dull day with few people around, this part of the upper level walkway is far from attractive and doesn't feel a place to linger. All is not helped by the slope down, the partly covered roof and high walls, red paint and debris of drink cans and bottles (all empty).

John Dobson's House, New Bridge Street
The square, white building on the left was built by the architect, John Dobson, as his private house in 1825 and he lived here until his death in 1865.
Tyne and Wear HER (8778): Newcastle, New Bridge Street, No. 49, Dobson House http://www.twsitelines.info
It is now part of the 'Liquid & Envy' nightclub whose entrance is on the right. Although this Newcastle night-spot has had many changes of name since, it was from 1925, the Oxford Galleries, famed in both real-life as a popular and stylish Dance Hall and bars, but also in fiction as film locations for 'Get Carter' and the TV series, 'Spender'. It morphed easily into the nightclub scene in the late 1960s as Tiffany's, Studio, Ritzy and Ikon.

49 New Bridge Street West, Newcastle
Given his talent, it's quite a revelation that this is the design John Dobson chose for his own house, in 1823, and one can only conclude that he concentrated his efforts on the inside. Grade II* listed.
Now subsumed into a nightclub, Liquid, for a predecessor of which, presumably the Oxford, the florid adjoining entrance must have been built between the wars.
