Opened in 1835, and designed by the famous northeast architect John Dobson as the centrepiece of Richard Grainger's rebuilding of Newcastle city centre. It has been recently revamped and redecorated. There are many stalls, like this greengrocers, selling all sorts of things.

Pub on Nun Street, Newcastle
Butlers bar is on the south side of Nun Street, which was built as part of Richard Grainger's rebuilding of much of the centre of Newcastle in the 1830's. I don't know how long the pub has occupied this spot, but it was certainly there in the 1960's. At the time, it had the distinction of having the only ladies only lounge in the city centre. This was located on the first floor.
