Scotswood Community Garden
Harvest open day. This community garden was started in 1994 on the site of a former drift mine, and was originally called the Drift Permaculture Project. It has open days a number of times a year and the one today was to celebrate the coming harvest. The promised highland cows didn't show, but on the plus side we did have bees and a talk on bee-keeping

Little oak tree, Scotswood Community Garden, Newcastle upon Tyne
As well as growing lots of veg and fruit the idea of the garden project is to green this area and plant lots of native trees. The little oak tree was settling in well and looked very happy in his own glade
