27-29 Fenkle Street, NE1
Probably early 19th C. Built as a house, but by the late 19th C had become the Crystal Fountain Inn; the decorative platerwork around the windows and above the ground floor probably date from this time. The inn closed in 1892, and since then the building has been in commercial use. The building is not listed. The Buildings of Grainger Town - No.194. See Image

89-107 Clayton Street, NE1
Built c 1837, probably by John Wardle, for Richard Grainger. A long section of 10 houses (30 bays) in the plain style of Clayton Street. The whole length was built just one room deep, with no rear windows. This was because John Clayton owned a house and garden on this site; he released only a thin strip of land on the edge of the garden, and insisted that the buildings should not have windows that overlooked his property. An Art Deco ornament was added in 1939 to no.107, the building on the Clayton Street/Fenkle Street corner Image The buildings are Grade II listed http://list.historicengland.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1024911 . The Buildings of Grainger Town - No.74. See Image
