Changing Crouch End
Popular with people with young families the North London suburb of Crouch End has a plethora of estate agents, charity shops and coffee shops, but offers little in a cultural sense. All this is about to change if plans for this stretch of Tottenham Lane are realised. The former Salvation Army citadel (currently obscured by scaffolding) is being turned into an arts centre, offering music, comedy and film showings (to open in early 2014), while planning permission has recently been granted to permit the conversion of the 1960s building to the right of the image into a 4-screen cinema (possibly to open late 2015)

Crouch End : ArtHouse
The ArtHouse Crouch End is housed in a former Salvation Army citadel, built in 1912 to a design by Oswald Archer, architect to the Salvation Army between 1905 and 1935.

Office building, Crouch End
With its pilotis and colour scheme this ill-maintained 1960s(?) office building clearly demonstrates the influence of the modernist French architect Le Corbusier (at once, hero and villain). If all goes to plan the building will be converted into 4-screen cinema within the next couple of years.
