A rare sighting, in a front garden (!), of Post Office direction sign, once a common item of street furniture. More at this http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BLW_Post_Office_Direction_Sign_(1).jpg

6 The Broadway Crouch End N8
This 1850 property is home to the popular Dunns bakery and the golden wheatsheaf on the upper pediment is a lovely feature. It is one of the original village buildings: that to the left is part of the 1930's Hornsey Town Hall buildings and that to the right is part of the 1880's development of the modern Crouch End. It's a little gem and I'm surprised it survived the historic developments on either side.

Taken on a particularly sunny day, the effect was not intentional but just how it looked at the time.

Wheatsheaf, Crouch End
Surmounting the cornice of one of the oldest buildings in Crouch End's shopping area. The shop has been a bakery since the 19th century - the initials W M are of William Muddiman.
