Entrance to Hornsey station
The Great Northern Railway opened its line between Maiden Lane and Peterborough through what is now Hornsey on 7th August 1850. Hornsey station opened on the same day. The facilities on the platforms and the footbridge are modern, but this entrance on Tottenham Lane is Victorian.

Hornsey Station Public Footbridge
For some reason the setting with its light and shade and long constricted walkway brought to mind a scene from the film "A Clockwork Orange" but there was no sense of malice at all at the location. The building to the right is the station ticket office which hangs on despite the railway companies' wish to close most of these small offices.

Railway north of Hornsey station
Looking along the East Coast Main Line towards Alexandra Palace and everything beyond, from the footbridge that provides pedestrian access to Hornsey station. On the right, the new depot for Thameslink trains (just north of the existing Hornsey depot) can just be seen.
