Although emergency vehicles can unlock the bollard and get through, nothing else is able to use this road as a shortcut between here Image and here Image Image Without this block, the road would become busy and would have many vans and lorries using it.

Factory Chimney by the New River
At first glance this could be an industrial canal scene. Except that as a purpose made water supply channel the New River is only around 1 ft. deep. Dug in the early 1600s, the New River still supplies around 8% of London's water. http://www.thameswater.co.uk/17250.htm
