Tibby Place, Islington
This small park on Greenman Street (off Essex Road) was once the location of Tibberton Baths - a local swimming pool. Oddly, part of the structure remains as a memorial - although I was unable to find any explanation of this at the site itself. The overall effect is distinctly surreal.

Former Carlton Cinema, Essex Road, Islington
Converted, like so many cinemas, into a bingo hall, this site closed in the early 21st century and has sat disused since. At the time of writing it is owned by an evangelical church but conversion is delayed by planning difficulties, whilst this grade II* listed building deteriorates to the extent that it is now on the official At Risk register.

Former cinema in Essex Road
This clearly dates from when all things Egyptian were in vogue following the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922. See also https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6980754

Former Carlton Cinema, Essex Road
This exuberant art-deco building, designed by George Coles, first opened its doors as the Carlton Cinema in 1930, later becoming an ABC. In common with many cinema buildings at that time it was converted to a bingo hall in 1972. Mecca Bingo closed it down in March 2007 allegedly because of fears that the smoking ban would damage business. It has lain empty ever since and its condition is deteriorating, to the extent that English Heritage has placed the grade 2* listed building on its at-risk register. It has been purchased by a church, Resurrection Manifestations, who have promised to use it for community activities as well as worship, but they are blaming planning difficulties for the lack of any progress.

Islington's finest Egyptian building! Built in 1930 to the designs of architect George Coles. Grade II* listed: description at this https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1292870. Closed in 1972, then became a bingo hall, before becoming the premises of the Resurrection Manifestations church.
