The railway line from Stratford to Broxbourne via Waltham Cross was opened by the Northern & Eastern Railway on 15th September 1840. What is now Northumberland Park station was opened on the same day, but only as a halt named Marsh Lane after the country lane to Tottenham Marshes on which it is situated. In June 1852 the station was renamed Park station. In 1923 operation passed to the London & North Eastern Railway and the station was renamed to its current title, Northumberland Park on 1st July 1923.
