"Supermoon", London N14
On 13 November 2016 the moon was the closest it has been to earth since the 26 January 1948. The full moon is actually on the 14 November but the moon is at its closest on the 13 November. The next time the moon comes this close will be on the 25 November 2034. It was fortunate that the sky cleared by late evening. When the moon rose it was behind a tree from where I live and a bit later it was covered in haze but shortly before midnight the sky cleared for a while. Image] occurred on 10 August 2014.

Spring planting, Prince George Avenue, London N14
More spring planting. If you look down Kenwood Avenue, which is opposite this green you can see right across Enfield. Also note the old and new lamp posts. The concrete one which you can see on the right is being replaced by stylish black metal lamp standards, the pole of which can just be seen to the right of the concrete lamp post. If you look down Kenwood Avenue you can see the new lamp posts which have already been installed, though being a minor road the lamp posts are smaller than the ones to be installed in Prince George Avenue. Image] is how it looked in May 1964.

Rooftops, London N14
Looking northwards from Merrivale with a telephoto lens this unusual view is now seen of St Mary Magdalene church between the rooftops. Until fairly recently this view was obscured by a horse chestnut tree Image], which had died so was removed just before Christmas. I was really surprised the first time I noticed it - the view that is.

Kenwood Avenue, London N14 taken 1964
The differences that immediately come to mind when I look at this photograph are that there were many more cherry trees at that time. Also note the hedge on the right encasing the large garden of the end house. Another house has since been built on this area, and also although you cannot see the left hand side, the same thing has happened there. Looking to the horizon there are many more trees and far fewer buildings. We now have new lamp posts and there are more cars. Image] Just to the right of the cherry tree on the right on the horizon you can see the water tower that was demolished many years ago. Image] looks in the same direction in April 2008.
