It was almost dry but fairly sunny when I left home, ten minutes later this began and didn't stop.

Tatem Park
The area which is now Tatem Park and Hollywood Gardens was originally a gravel pit owned by the Tatem sisters. They donated the 15 acre site to Edmonton Borough Council in the 1930s for use as a park. It was opened in 1938. In 1945 an area of wasteland was purchased and laid out as an ornamental garden, named after Councillor George Hollywood of Edmonton Parks Committee. Further landscaping was carried out in 1983 with the accent on landscaping. At this time the two sites were united. This is where the ornamental Hollywood Gardens in the south, drops down to the less formal Tatem Park to the north where the former gravel pit was located.
