The Canonbury Tavern
There has been a pub here since the early 1700s, with this building dating from 1854. It was rescued from dereliction and reopened in 2009. According to the pub website, George Orwell, who lived down the road, wrote parts of "1984" under a tree in the garden here.

Canonbury House
The original Canonbury House was built in 1532, although the present building, on the site of the old stable block, dates from 1795. For many years it served as the vicarage for St Stephen's Church but is now a private residence.
