Tolpuddle Street Islington
A bleak sort of thoroughfare named in honour the Tolpuddle Martyrs, their association with the area being that, after their transportation to Australia in 1834, a mass procession of 35 unions, organised in nearby Copenhagen Fields by the Metropolitan Trades Unions, marched to Whitehall to present a 200,000 signature petition to the Prime Minister Lord Melbourne. They were subsequently pardoned.
