Sphinxes in Richmond Avenue
There are to be seen a whole set of houses on the south side of Richmond Avenue which have these sphinxes on either side of the entrance. These ones are painted black like most of them although they have been given creepy white eyes. There is one pair which is painted white - see https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7015277

Barnsbury: Matilda Street, N1
There are no houses on the opposite side of the street to these now but the 1882 Ordnance Survey map shows buildings and two main thoroughfares, Grace Street and Everilda Street, running to Hemingford Road to the east.
