Site of the old Stonehouse Hospital
Stonehouse Hospital opened in the late 19th century to treat tuberculosis patients. The large Victorian buildings were demolished in 2004 and the site remains mostly undeveloped. A small hospital has been built in one corner for the treatment of elderly patients.

Stonehouse Hospital
The new Stonehouse Hospital which cares for elderly patients occupies a corner of the site of a large Victorian sanatorium which was demolished in 2004. The old hospital site is otherwise undeveloped as a big field behind half-hearted and possibly illegal keep out signs. The lamp standard is an almost ever present feature of old hospital sites.
