The new Stonehouse Hospital which cares for elderly patients occupies a corner of the site of a large Victorian sanatorium which was demolished in 2004. The old hospital site is otherwise undeveloped as a big field behind half-hearted and possibly illegal keep out signs. The lamp standard is an almost ever present feature of old hospital sites.
