The Watson Fountain, Hamilton
The fountain is located in the angle between Muir Street (behind the fountain) and Cadzow Street. Its western side (on the left, in this photograph) bears the following inscription: "Presented to the town of Hamilton by John Watson of Earnock 1893". Its listed building report states that it is the work of "Gavin Paterson (Hamilton), architect and Killock Brown (Glasgow) Sculptor". (For some ideas of what I take to be the classical inspiration behind its design, see the comments in Image, and the views of similar structures linked from that item.) At Image, the fountain is almost on the grid line.
