Strathaven Balloon Festival 2019
This is the early Sunday morning flight, around 7am when the winds are low and the air cool.
The UK's furthest north balloon festival, this event has grown and grown, so much so that over 20,000 people descend on this small town (population 9000) for a weekend of hot-air balloons and the funfair.

The West Shore, Strathaven
This quiet country road, just outside Strathaven, is apparently called 'West Shore' but only a very few locals I have spoken to know it as that. Further into Strathaven there is a 'North Shore'; East and South are missing, unless anyone knows better? The house in the distance is Colinhill Farm Cottage.

Lauder Ha', the home of Sir Harry Lauder
Sir Harry Lauder was the superstar of his day. He commissioned this new house and settled at Strathaven in 1936. The greeting "Frae a' the airts the wind can blaw; ye're welcome here at Lauder Ha" is inscribed on the fireplace of the Ha'. This house hosted many of the great stars of the time, including Jimmy Durante, Laurel and Hardy, Danny Kaye, Frankie Lane, the Beverley Sisters and Jimmy Logan.
