Sir Harry Lauder was the superstar of his day. He commissioned this new house and settled at Strathaven in 1936. The greeting "Frae a' the airts the wind can blaw; ye're welcome here at Lauder Ha" is inscribed on the fireplace of the Ha'. This house hosted many of the great stars of the time, including Jimmy Durante, Laurel and Hardy, Danny Kaye, Frankie Lane, the Beverley Sisters and Jimmy Logan.
