Footbridge across old railway line
This footbridge crossed the disused Bletchley to Oxford railway line in Winslow. Recently it has been demolished in connection with the building of the new Winslow Station nearby. The line is being rebuilt for East West Railway who will run trains from Milton Keynes to Oxford and London via Aylesbury. Winslow is the only new station to be built on this line at present.

Site of proposed Winslow Station
The former Bicester - Bletchley line (Varsity Line) is to be reopened as part of the East West Rail scheme in December 2017. The previous site of Winslow station has now been largely taken over by a recent housing development. So the proposal is to build a new station on a site just west of the intersection of the A413 and the B4033 on the North Western edge of Winslow. That site is to the right side of the line shown in this photo. More details of East West Rail may be found http://www.eastwestrail.org.uk

East West Railway: Site of the proposed new Winslow station
Viewed looking towards the Oxford end of the line from the A413 Buckingham Road bridge, this is the site of the proposed new Winslow station on the new East West Railway. For a view of the proposed new station as planned, and from the same viewpoint as this photograph, please see https://www.networkrailmediacentre.co.uk/news/first-new-railway-in-50-years-between-oxford-and-bletchley-given-the-go-ahead
The station cannot be built in the same location as the original station because of housing development in that area since its closure.

The site for the new Winslow Station
East West Railway is currently rebuilding the old railway line from Bicester to Bletchley and is to provide a new station in Winslow. The chosen site is adjacent to the A413 overbridge at the north of the town. Winslow used to have a station further east, but this was closed and demolished in 1986 leaving only the platforms and track. The site has now been redeveloped for housing. In the future, Winslow will enjoy direct passenger services to Milton Keynes, Oxford and London Marylebone (via Aylesbury). The station building will be at the top of the cutting on the left with platforms adjacent to the road bridge.
